I’ve been racing bikes since I was 4 years old — starting in BMX, becoming a World Champion at age 7, and later winning national titles in mountain biking. I’ve ridden for legendary brands like Hutch, Redline, Tomac, Santa Cruz, and Yeti, and I’ve spent over two decades helping athletes and brands grow through my work at Hookit. Everything I’ve learned — on the bike and in the business — now shapes how I coach, consult, and guide others
- On-Bike Coaching — From beginners learning fundamentals to pros fine-tuning race skills, I coach riders at every level with a focus on confidence, control, and performance.
• Sponsorship Consulting — I help athletes, teams, and brands better understand, build, and manage effective sponsorship relationships.
I coach and consult the way I raced — with focus, honesty, and a no-nonsense mindset. I bring real-world experience, helping athletes and brands build confidence, clarity, and high-level performance — on the bike and beyond.
"Rich Houseman has been an invaluable mentor and consultant in my journey as a professional mountain biker and beyond. His deep knowledge of the industry, paired with his experience as a former pro, made all the difference when it came to navigating sponsorships and crafting the right proposals.
Rich not only helped me refine my approach but also took the time to guide me through rewriting emails and structuring deals in a way that truly elevated my career. His insights, professionalism, and dedication to helping athletes succeed are unmatched. I’m incredibly grateful for everything I’ve learned from him, and I highly recommend his coaching and sponsorship consulting to any athlete looking to take their career to the next level." - https://www.annekebeerten.com/
"Rich Houseman changed my view of myself as a rider by setting aside just a day to ride with him. This day marked a shift in how I perceived my skills as a mountain biker and where I stood in terms of improvement. He gave me insightful feedback on the basics, such as creative line choices, bike-body separation, along with foot placement-building my confidence as a newer rider. I remember this day not only for the development of skill but also for the lighthearted environment that inspired me to push myself for more." @savannah_mentality
Rich is a great asset. He has the rare ability to understand things from the perspective of a rider, a coach and a business and is able to craft strategies that align the best interests for all three.
"From the very beginning, Rich has been the most influential person throughout my racing seasons. Whether it was helping me refine my riding technique or teaching me how to be a strong ambassador for a brand, Rich has always been the best person to turn to."

Rich is awesome!
In a one day clinic he helped me with bike setup, cornering, braking and how to read a trail. And beyond that he’s made himself available to answer questions and offer advice and even just offer some encouragement when I’d be feeling some nerves before a race. He also has fantastic insight into the industry, such as how to conduct myself professionally at a race, and how to work with my sponsors. Hit him up! - @emacbass
Rich Houseman is one of the most professional athletes I have worked with in my career. From day one, he was on time, communicative and quick to return messages. When testing, he put in the work all day until everyone was tired. This made him one of our go to test riders at FOX Racing Shox. I observed Rich many times not only be a top athlete on a team but help the other riders and keep a dynamic team balance.

Rich kicked-started my mountain bike career. He gave me the guidance to become not just a successful racer but taught me how to interact with brands and how to value myself.—tools that have proven valuable beyond my time between the tape as I’ve continued pursuing a professional career working within the mountain bike industry. Thanks Big House!

Rich was able to spot the value in myself before anyone else. He allowed me to have a career in mountain bikes from the age of 16 and still going strong over 10 years later. From learning how to present myself at the races, creating sponsor/company value, and most importantly being in the right headspace to deliver on race runs. Racing mountain bikes has taught me so much that I’ve applied to all aspects of life and Rich was the one to kickstart it all!

Houseman coaching is one of the best investments that you can make in your self period. I’ve taken 3 sessions over the years and every time I’ve seen immediate results. One of the most immediate benefits of every session was the identification of unrealized bad habits in my riding and racing routine. Rich will work tirelessly with you to correct them once and for all. We spent a lot of time working on cornering techniques. Breaking points and line choice. The coaching really changes your mindset while building your confidence by instilling correct and life lasting fundamentals. @zippyfathead
Our family was blessed to meet Rich 13 years ago while he was running a race clinic at our local downhill venue. Our son would spend the next 5 years under the coaching, training and mentoring of Rich. Rich not only managed a junior development team that grew our son and many other riders into World Cup level athletes but he also taught them how to represent themselves, their teams, and their sponsors in the world of professional racing . Rich played an instrumental role in developing our son into a well rounded athlete , a world class rider, and an overall good human being . - @_moto_momma_
Rich has always been a great point of contact for me, to help steer my career decisions and for advice on on sponsorships and how to maximise my value as an athlete with his wealth of knowledge on that side. - @wynmasters
I first met Rich at a So-Cal enduro at vail lake in Temecula. At that time I was riding my Nukeproof waiting to drop for my race run, when I saw someone else on a Nukeproof as well. Little did I know that same day I was about to meet someone that would help me not only get my biggest sponsor, or change the next few years of my life, but help me gain knowledge as to how important it is to talk with people and get you’re name out. Eventually I started talking with Rich more and battling for the podium with him. (I’ll tell you what don’t underestimate Rich, I thought I had him in the bag till I looked at times that first day.) As I started to progress moving up in classes, I eventually started to ask Rich about trying to get a sponsorship from Nukeproof. Of corse this was a long shot and something I didn’t think was possible. After starting to win more frequently at our local races, Rich houseman connected me with Nukeproof in the following recent months and helped me gain my sponsor with Nukeproof. Rich, played a huge role in my time racing mountain bikes. If it wasn’t for his expertise and connections in the industry I believe I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish what I did on my mountain bike. Not only does he have a deep understanding of the sport, but he also genuinely cares about the success of those he helps. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to take my biking to the next level and pursue opportunities I never thought possible. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to advance in the sport!
